2011-12 Festival Information and Registration

The Fulton Theatre has hosted a statewide high school drama festival since 1986. This year's High School Theatre Festival will be held on Monday, April 2, 2012. Students from across Pennsylvania bring 30-minute pieces or excerpts of a longer production to the Fulton's main stage to share with other high schools and to receive constructive criticism by a panel of area professionals. Your Day Fee guarantees your participation at the Festival, but also includes a teaching artist visitation to your organization prior to the festival, to provide your company with preliminary feedback on the working piece, and insight into the festival; and at the festival, a panel of distinguished theatre professionals provide critical feedback to each performing group and present certificates of recognition for each group's special contribution to the festival; and student enrollment in specialized workshops designed with participant input provided to us prior to the Festival! An engraved plaque that hangs in the Fulton Theatre lobby marks the "Beth Bash" Award for outstanding achievement by an individual or school. A past winner is Jonathan Groff, Tony-nominated star of Broadway's Spring Awakening, who both directed and performed at the Festival for several of his formative years, and went on to act in Fulton productions before embarking on his New York career.
